Kevin Mulvany, Suzie Rogers, Harry Smith and Robert Dawson are four of my favorite miniature artisan, whose work I never tire of studying. What they have accomplished with the Palace at Versailles for inspiration is truly amazing.

Dan Ohlmann’s 1:12 scale Maxims Restaurant in Paris, found on MAKE:
Formerly a cabinetmaker, Dan Ohlmann started creating scale furniture in Paris in 1985. Fascinated with the Art Nouveau style, he built a 1:12 scale model of the world-famous Chez Maxim’s restaurant in Paris. Combining artistic talent and architectural knowledge, this hyperreal piece came as a surprise in France and caught the eye of the media and the general public.

The Whiteladies House is on exhibit at the Victoria & Albert Museum
This Art Deco house was designed by Mrs. Moray Thomas as a record of 1930s contemporary life in miniature. One of the oldest charity houses, it was displayed at The Building Centre in New Bond Street in 1936 for the purpose of raising funds for the Middlesex Hospital.

Annie Horatia Jones Cabinet Dolls House
The Annie Horatia Jones dolls house collection is special because of the centerpiece: a group of ten dolls made to resemble family members, created to keep the memories of her family close. They were dressed by her Aunt Tamazine Billings whose original hand-written labels are still sewn onto their clothing to identify the family member they are intended to represent.
