A Dollhouse Bathroom With Style
If you are building a period dollhouse or room box, convention pretty much dictates the decorating choices. There is more latitude if you are recreating an important scene from childhood, for instance, because we have all learned that memory is not a video recorder. Still, the whimsey factor can be limited.
I recently sketched some dollhouse ideas for my first granddaughter. It was a Victorian beauty, just like the one I had at her age. Her reaction surprised me. It shouldn’t have, I guess, the way kids have changed.
“Gee, grandma! It’s so old-timey. I’d rather have something I’d like to live in.”
The Spa
After about a minute to absorb that response, I was ready to jump for joy. The modern miniature movement is expanding so rapidly that children are requesting the style. We perused decorating magazines, watched HGTV together, and made plans for a contemporary structure. What a dream house! She sure better become a CEO of a Fortune 500 company if that’s the kind of house she expects to live in when she grows up.
The Fave
Guess which room we spent the most time planning? The bath … no, that’s a lame description. She wants a Personal Spa in her dollhouse. Hooray! There’s a fresh breeze blowing in the miniature universe. Keep the windows open!
