Ali Alamedy’s Dioramas

Ali Alamedy’s dioramas are amazing; his life story even more so. Here are some highlights in his own words:

“I Built A Miniature 1900s Photo Studio In Honor Of An Old Photographer

‘I spent 9 months working on the studio using hundreds of meters of wood and lots of other materials like plastic, copper, paper, etc. I built more than 100 miniature objects all designed and built according to that era. All the objects were made from scratch. There were lots of challenges especially when I was doing the research. I could find only a few pictures from old studios all in white and black.

Artist Thomas Burke of Wilmington, DE, built this luxury 9-foot tall birdhouse for George Lucas.

I was searching the Internet for interesting dollhouses and was excited to see this 19th-century “miniature.” It looked huge compared to the builder posing with it. I was disappointed to read the caption and discover that it was a custom birdhouse given to George Lukas of Star Wars fame as a Christmas present. This is a departure from the dollhouse miniature posts I usually, but it’s a beautiful construction, built by a talented craftsman. And it’s a pleasant story

Nuremberg House

The Nuremberg House was made in 1673 and is the oldest dollhouse on display at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London. It is small, measuring approximately 42” high, 36” wide and 18” deep, much smaller than most “puppenhausen” made in Nuremberg during that period.
